What’s in the name

The process of determining the names of our three daughters took a lot of time and energy, luckily the name of my new venture was less painless. After 13 years in tech, I asked AI to help me come up with names. The most creative names and combinations were suggested by CoPilot and ChatGPT. But the answer was closer to home.

The idea of starting on my own and my purpose around creating psychological safe workplaces as well as my desire to break the stigma around mental health first saw daylight on the beach on the island of Terschelling, in the Northern part of The Netherlands. On that beach I decided that I wanted to start my own adventure and not jump back into a fixed contract with a larger organization. As a person living close to the Scheveningen beach, this is where I do my best thinking and where I reload my batteries. Whether it is walking my dogs, riding horses, or just walking down the shore. After 25 years of working at and for corporates, I want to ride different waves and experience the tides of entrepreneurship.

Salt Water can refresh and give new energy. Salt Water is movement and change is it’s only constant. Salt Water comes in waves, just how cultures are built and maintained.

I never check my horoscope, but with an idea of a name as Salt Water and being an Aquarius – I did ask CoPilot about the personality traits of an Aquarius and the answer was both affirmative and energizing.

Aquarius, the eleventh sign of the zodiac, is associated with unique and intriguing personality traits. They are open-minded, Aquarius individuals are known for their willingness to consider new ideas. They are Creative Beyond Boundaries: Aquarius natives possess a natural talent for creativity. Their self-expression knows no limits, and they strive to invent something exclusive rather than following the crowd. But most of all, Aquarians are Agents of Change, they aren’t content with merely existing in society; they actively work to change it for the better. Their sharp minds and strong sense of social justice drive them to push boundaries and improve what’s already working well.

I am excited about the name Salt Water for my new journey, but also acknowledge that it is just a name. What I bring, what I stand for and what makes me unique is what I bring to the table. Whatever name chosen as a label for my adventure, it’s still me.
